IUC rebates

by Premier Living

When vehicles were imported to Portugal and matriculated they were given a new date of registration as being the year of importation to Portugal, rather than the actual year of the vehicle’s first registration.

Those vehicles which will qualify for the rebate are those that were registered in Portugal after the 1st July 2007 when the regulations were changed, but which were registered in their country of origin before that date and it only refers to EU/ EEA registered vehicles.

It is also important to note that the rebate will only be for the last 4 years and not since the date of importation if it was more than 4 years ago. The change in IUC applies to vehicles that have been imported or admitted to Portugal on or after 1st July 2007 AND registered in a Member state of the EU/ EEA prior to 1st July 2007
