The critical period for fires which is determined by the Bombeiros (fire department) and CPA runs usually from the 1st July to 30th September but may be extended until the end of October by the authorities due to abnormally dry conditions and prolonged higher temperatures.

Bonfires or any fires outdoors, launching rockets or hot air balloons are forbidden during this period. You can contact your local Bombeiros station if you intend to have any kind of fire outdoors
